Welcome to Silkwood State School.

Silkwood State School is a Band 6 school with approximately 107primary students. At Silkwood School we address the diverse needs of our students by endeavouring to provide them with the best possible resources both human and material. Owing to the nature of our community with the area being recognised as being in the low socio-economic bracket, the school has endeavoured to ensure that our students have access to resources that they normally wouldn’t have a chance of using or seeing in their own home environment.

The school is situated approximately between the two main towns in the area – namely Innisfail and Tully. It is approximately fifteen minutes from the local beach side township of Kurrimine Beach where the majority of our students reside. The school itself is situated at the northern end of the township and provides a very inviting and tidy environment for our students with outdoor play equipment situated under colourful shade cloth and permanent shade structures.

Hi everyone

Today next year's preps came to see our school.
They had a lot of activities to do like obstacle courses and slime, play-doh and clay. We hope they liked it. The obstacle course was cool as... we tried it !!

Dear reader,

This term for art the year 3/4/5 have been doing pottery. It is fun but when some of our pots were put in the kiln they exploded because they had air bubbles in them. Doing pottery is fun and we are doing it today and Miss Schiel is showing us how to blog. IT'S FUN!!!
