Enrolments are welcome at Silkwood State School at any time of the year. The process is simple, just follow these easy steps.
- Download the Department's application for student enrolment form (PDF 5.5MB) or obtain an enrolment package from the school office.
- Complete the form and email, post or deliver to the school office.
The completed form can be delivered to the school office at 318 Japoon Road, Silkwood or mailed to The Principal, Silkwood State School, PO Box 255, Silkwood QLD, 4856. Alternatively, you can email the enrolment package to principal@silkwoodss.eq.edu.au - The Principal will contact you soon after to arrange a suitable time for an enrolment interview. Please bring the following items with you to the interview: Birth Certificate or passport & proof of residency. If your child is born overseas a current passport and visa is required.
Contact the school to obtain a printed copy of our school prospectus.
Arrangements to tour the school facilities, or to discuss aspects of the school with administration are welcomed and can be made by contacting the school office.
Prep Enrolments
To determine when your child can commence their preparatory year, view the Department's prep ready reckoner calculator. Children must be 5 by 30 June in the year they enrol.
In Term 3, the school will hold a Prep Open Morning, where interested families can come to our school and see for themselves how our prep program works. Please refer to our website's Latest News and school Facebook page for the date of our Prep Open Day.
In addition, in Term 4, pre-prep students will be encouraged to attend our Pre-Prep Program. This is a wonderful free program for pre-prep children to come to our school and participate in a range of activities aimed at developing their oral language and developing literacy skills.
The program is run by a qualified and passionate early learning teacher and is designed to build confidence and strengthen independence in preparation for your child's transition into prep. All children with disability are encouraged to enrol at their local state school alongside their same age peers.
