We believe that for each one of us to reach our potential, a learning environment which is safe and respectful must be maintained. Our school culture relies on all students, parents and staff contributing to such an environment and student leadership is key to achieving this.
All senior students are expected to model behaviours expected from our school community and outlined in our Student Code of Conduct. At the end of each year a select few are elected as School Captains or House captains. These captains and representatives from P-3, year 4 and year 5 make up our Student Council.
2024 School Captains
School Captains - Marly & Maggie
Barnard House Captains - Piper & Ella
Ellison House Captain - Jake
School Captains
The School Captains are responsible for representing us at school and community events and hosting our ANZAC Commemorative Ceremony and Awards Night. They are also responsible for conducting school assemblies, welcoming special guests and thanking visiting performers. School Captains liaise with the Principal, teachers and other leaders on various activities and issues affecting our students.
House Captains
The House Captains are sports leaders who organise their team, take care of shared sports equipment and encourage all students to participate in sports positively and to the best of their ability. They perform public speaking at school and community sports events and at our Awards Night. The house teams are Barnard and Ellison (named after local coastal islands).
Student Council
Our school has a vibrant and enthusiastic Student Council which advises the principal on issues affecting our students, plans school events such as discos and fundraisers. This group meets approximately twice a term using formal meeting procedures. This year our Student Council implemented “Pie Day Friday” which has morphed into a once per week tuckshop opportunity offering a variety of foods in line with Queensland’s Smart Choices policy. The Student Council decides how its funds are spent on the students at our school.
