ANZAC Day

For over 20 years, Silkwood State School continues to host the local community Anzac Day Ceremony held at the Silkwood East Cenotaph. The community is invited to attend and we collaboratively work with the local Red Cross and Queensland Country Women's Association Silkwood Branch (QCWA) members who assist in organising wreaths and provide a morning tea for attendees after the service. This strong community engagement allows for important inter-personal generational connections within our small town on such a significant day.

The significance of this Ceremony ensures our youth and future generations will contribute to Australia's understanding of its wartime heritage and honour the service and sacrifice of its service personnel.

Giggly Friends Playgroup

All welcome!

Giggly Friends Playgroup is held in a dedicated, air-conditioned classroom at Silkwood State School each Monday where all ages from birth to Prep are welcome to attend, including parents, grandparents and carers. Playgroup is hosted by qualified teacher aide Belinda Santarossa. Belinda is an energetic member of our team and will facilitate craft activities along with painting, colouring and musical activities. These include utilizing the outdoor playground for outside play and gross motor development when weather permits.

Membership is FREE for families within our catchment zone. This includes Silkwood, Japoonvale, Kurrimine Beach and Cowley.

Any family is welcome to attend and families from outside our catchment will need to pay the annual Playgroup QLD membership fee which gives you access to:

  • online resources including tips and play experiences to support children's growth,
  • special events and competitions, and
  • a community of parents/carers just like you!

If you require any further information, please don't hesitate to contact the school on 4065 1333, call Belinda Santarossa on 0407 146 511 or message the Facebook page.
